Why I Love the Metropolitan Meat, Seafood & Poultry Company

I love this company. I don’t think I’ve ever actually eaten their meat, their seafood, or their poulty, but I love them. Look at that logo. It’s so wildly awesome — with its complete disregard for size, oxygen needs, and interspecies relationships — yet so messed up at the same time. Why are they all smiling? Do they know they’re dead, or about to be dead?
The company is based in Maryland, and for as long as I can remember, I see their trucks at least two or three times a week. Sadly, the corporate website is missing something amazing that the trucks have:
The slogan kills me every time: Just a little bit better.
I love these people.
They’re not the greatest on earth or the best you’ll find or the freshest for miles. They’re just a little bit better.
You kind of have to appreciate that, in this dog-eat-dog area … they aren’t in it to win it. They’re just a little bit better.
