Chris Anderson, author of The Long Tail, has a new book out. It’s called Free: The Future of a Radical Price, and I’m interested in reading it. I just wandered over to Amazon to see if it’s available yet, and what it costs — because I’m used to Amazon lovingly slashed 40% to 50% off the cost of new hardcovers (and basically everything else). Ironically, I found this:

Turns out, even though he’s written a book about how everything is going to be free in the future, Mr. Anderson wants some cashmoney for his book.

Just for the hard copy, though. The full book is available online for free here:

in an added twist of irony– this wouldn’t happen to be the same Chris Anderson who works for Boink! magazine (out of Boston University), is it?
Because he scammed me out of $50 by publishing my work and never paying me.

If his hardcover book were free, the publisher would not be able to afford publishing them.
Thus, if his premise (that everything will eventually be free) is ridiculous. If everything were free, no one would be able to afford creating anything.
You’ll end up getting nothing for free.
i.e., Capitalism rules.
